OVER 300 Trained First class scout Across lagos -Towards Developing Grassroots Scouting.

LAGOS STATE SCOUT COUNCIL SUCCESSFULLY TRAINED OVER 300 FIRST CLASS SCOUTS - 2023.


In accordance with the vision of the Training Department and the State Scout Council that grassroots development across LSSC is essential for the effective propagation of Scouting ideals and ethics.


From Monday 28th to Saturday 2nd September, 2023, all qualified Second Class Scouts within Lagos State Scout Council (Troops, Districts & Divisions) converged in three Zones to train her First Class Scouts.


Zone 1 had AGEGE, ALIMOSHO, IKEJA and MUSHIN Scout Divisions with a total of 104 candidates was led by Mr. Felix Amadi (ALT) & Mr. G.B.O Olaifa (ALT) and Directed by Mr. Bamidele Bello (LT) & Mr. Taiwo Agesin (WB) were camped at Temidire Pry Sch, Oke-Odo, Abule -Egba, Lagos. 


Zone 2 had APAPA, OJO, BADAGRY Scout Divisions with a total of 139 Candidates and was led by Mr. Michael Durotoye (WB) and Directed by Pastor Monday Monye (ALT) were camped at Iragbon Pry School, Badagry. 


Zone 3 which was led by Mr. Samson Idowu (ALT) and assisted by Mr. Lamidi S. Ige (ALT) and Directed by Asiwaju Fatah O.B. Adanijo (ALT) & Mr. Inumidun Lawrence (ALT) had participants from EKO, SOMOLU, MAINLAND Scout Divisions with a total of 76 Candidates were based at Eleja School Complex, Itire road.


Erudite, vast, State-wide competent and standing tall trainers who instructed as Visiting Tutors during the training courses which took place simultaneously across the Zones includes; Mr. Idowu I.A Esan (LT, DCC), Pa. J.A.O Omodara (LT, ADCC), Mr. Akanji Adewale (LT), Nzeh Berth Martins (LT), Mr. Olayiwola Adewuyi (LT), Olufemi Odunuga (LT), Mr. Adeola Adebayo (ALT), Mr. Idowu Olajide Waliu (ALT), Barr. S.A Umar (ALT), Mr. McDonald Ihyawoh (ALT), Dr. Raji Bomodeoku Quadri (ALT), Mr. Kenneth Geoffrey. 


"The Candidates were trained in skills through Career Counseling, Estimation, Signalling, First Aid, Badge System, Mapping/Compass, Tracking, Axemanship, Repass Tenderfoot & Second class tests, Knots& Splices, International Scouting Highway Code, ICT amongst other modern topics that fits into today's Scouting environment".


During the Courses-in-Session, the State Scout Commissioner (Alh. Olohuntoyin Adebesin (WB) successfully visited all the Zones for onsite assessment of the Courses and to motivate the young Scouts and course faculty. Also, the Training Commissioner, LSSC (Mr. Ismail Oluyemi Afolabi LT, ADCC) toured round the three Zones to assess their level of compliance with training standards. In the same measure, Pa. Olaseni Oduyoye (Erstwhile NHQ Hospitality, TSAN), Mr. Ezekiel Shomefun (ALT), Mr. N.I Shobogun (LT, ADCC), Mrs. F. A Bello (LT), Mr. Femilola Ogundele (State Secretary) among others visited the Courses to motivate the young boys and girls as they train and join the trail to the award of the Eagle Scout Badge.
