NYCN LAGOS EAST TAKES THE FIGHT AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND CULTISM TO SCHOOLS

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Lagos State Chapter (Lagos East  Senatorial District) recently hosted a sensitization campaign against drug abuse in schools beginning from Ishawo Comprehensive  High School, Ishawo Agric, Ikorodu. The event was attended by key stakeholders, including the State Deputy Chairman, Vice Chairman (Lagos East) , members of the Scout and Coordinators from Lagos East. A Timely Intervention: The campaign was a timely intervention, given the alarming prevalence of substance abuse among secondary school students in Lagos State. According to recent studies, 8.3% of students reported using illicit drugs, with opiates, codeine-contained cough syrups, and tramadol being the most commonly used substances. NYCN LAGOS WEST SENATORIAL DISTRICT HOSTS SUCCESSFUL VISIT TO MAXIMUM SECURITY CUSTODIAN CENTRE KIRIKIRI APAPA, LAGOS. In a bid to extend hope and support to inmates in Lagos West correctional centres,  The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Lagos West senatorial district, ably led by the Vice Chairman, Lagos West, hosted a visit to the Maximum Security Custodian Centre in Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos. A Productive Engagement The visit, which was part of the chapter's community outreach project, was a unique experience that offered a productive engagement with inmates. The visit opened the eyes and minds of the team to the challenges faced by the inmates, highlighting the need for continuous orientation on crimes and related matters to protect young people from falling victim.
